Why schools need to prepare now

AI image abuse is no longer a future concern. Ordinary images of children and young people can now be copied, manipulated, sexualised or used for blackmail with tools that are increasingly easy to access. Schools need practical guidance that helps staff respond appropriately and supports pupils and parents before an incident occurs.

AI has changed image risk

Photos can now be manipulated quickly and convincingly.

Privacy matters more than ever

Images may reveal identity, location, friendships and more.

Consent needs to be understood

Everyone needs clear messages about taking/sharing images.

Schools need a response plan

If an image is misused, staff need to know what to do.

This isn't about panic. It's about preparedness.

AI image abuse is a serious safeguarding issue, but schools do not need alarmist messages. They need clear understanding, practical guidance and age-appropriate resources that help the whole school community respond with confidence.
